Little Joe Y La Familia tickets are available now! Five-time Grammy award-winning artist and performer Little Joe Hernandez has recorded more than 70 albums across a career that spans six decades. The traditional Tex-Mex style of norteño by Little Joe fuses traditional ranchera and polka rhythms with jazz, country, R&B, and pop to create the up-tempo hybrid known as “Tejano.” Together with his band, Little Joe Y La Familia, his music reaches far beyond the Texas and Mexico borders and is one of the most popular Tex-Mex bands in the music industry. Little Joe is renowned as the “King of the Brown Sound.”
Little Joe was an important voice in the ’60s and ’70s civil rights movements for Chicanos and friends with the late César Chávez. Born in poverty to a cotton picker family, Little Joe took up the trade as a child before finding success as a musician. The Texas native’s genres include Latin, Tejano, Chicano, Country, and Contemporary Blues.
Releasing his eighth live album in May 2021, Little Joe claims eventually, all those songs come back to him — “Out of nowhere, I start singing a song I haven’t sung in 40, 50 years. When I get on stage, something magical happens. I don’t stop to think. I’m free.
